1. Purpose and availability
DevSSD Backup is an operator-managed system for backing up and restoring selected development files using Restic and Rclone with Google Drive. It is intended for authorized private use and is not offered as a general-purpose consumer backup service. This website provides product information only.
2. Authorization
The Google Drive connection must be authorized by the owner of the applicable Google account. The operator is responsible for obtaining permission to back up any project content they select, including third-party or client materials. Access is limited by the Google OAuth scopes granted.
3. Backup and restoration
Backup frequency, exclusions, retention, encryption credentials, and recovery decisions are controlled by the operator. Data recovery requires access to the repository and the correct encryption password. Restic and Rclone are separate open-source tools and may have their own licenses and documentation.
4. Security responsibilities
The operator is responsible for securing the computer, external storage, Google account, OAuth credentials, and Restic repository password. Backup passwords must be kept separately from the only copy of the backed-up data. Recovery tests and independent backup copies are recommended.
5. No guarantee of uninterrupted backup
Backup operations may fail because of network outages, lack of storage capacity, unavailable drives, expired or revoked Google authorization, software updates, or other operational conditions. A successful upload or completed job is not a substitute for verifying that the data can be restored.
6. Google Drive and other services
Google Drive is a third-party storage service. Google may apply quotas, service limits, and its own terms. DevSSD Backup is not endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with Google, Restic, or Rclone.
7. Changes and questions
The operator may update the workflow and these terms as necessary. Updated terms will appear here. For questions, use the support email shown for DevSSD Backup on Google's OAuth consent screen.
Important: This website does not accept file uploads, store OAuth tokens, run an online backup service, or provide public user accounts.
